Timber Harvest

At Crosscut Forestry, we are experienced both in harvesting timber from the forest, and in marketing that timber to get the best value for our clients.  

We understand local and national markets, and have strong relationships with a wide range of sawmills and timber buyers. Crucially, as an independent consultancy, we are not directly associated with any one timber processing organisation, and can therefore get the best value for our clients from the whole of the market.  

Timber operations are often in the form of clearfells and thinnings, but we also have a strong understanding of low impact silvicultural systems and can implement those on suitable sites. We bring a very adaptable approach to ensure that the harvesting method chosen is the optimal one for your forest, as well as one that generates the best financial return.  

Most sales are carried out on a standing sale basis, either through negotiation with preferred buyers or via competitive tendering. However, we also have clients who prefer a more direct approach where we are responsible for engaging and supervising contractors to harvest sites, with the timber being sold at roadside or delivered to market.  

In all cases we ensure our clients’ legislative, contractual, health and safety and environmental obligations are met.
